Songkran is a super fun event on the annual calendar in Thailand. Known as the Thai New Year, Songkran is deep-rooted in tradition and culture. The festival lasts for three days, but it truly is a mass celebration across Thailand. This year, Songkran takes places from the 13th to 15th of April and is sure to be a wonderful time.
Songkran has to be seen to be believed. Not only is it a traditional Thai festival, it’s also the largest water festival in the country. As April is the hottest month, the water feels cool and refreshing. Kata Beach is Santosa’s local beach and is sure to have many fun activities during the Songkran Festival such as a mass water fight, music and traditional ceremonies.

Meditation is a powerful practice which comes with a wide variety of health benefits. During meditation, the mind is trained or induced into a mode of consciousness which in turn allows the mind to focus on peaceful thoughts.
Meditation can change our mind from negative to positive, from unhappy to happy and from disturbed to peaceful. Meditation is so good for us because it enforces overcoming negative minds and cultivates constructive thoughts. It also reduces stress, improves concentration, promotes a healthy lifestyle, increases happiness and benefits both cardiovascular and immune health.
Have you always been interested in meditation, but uncertain of where to begin? Once you get over the initial fear of sitting still and quiet, you will realize that the practice is quite easy and beneficial. Below we offer some tips to get started with meditation.
Remember to start small. Perhaps you can start your journey into meditation by training yourself to sit quietly for two minutes. Choose a dedicated time of day and a place, and go back to this place at the same time over and over. Set a routine and prepare the space. For example, use soft music or a special candle to enhance your meditation.
Focus on your breath. Breathe in and out, in and out. When you lose focus of your breath, your mind will start to wander. However, in the beginning when you first start meditation, if you do lose focus of your breath and your mind wanders, please do not be too hard on yourself. It is common for beginners to meditation to lose track of their breath. With practice, you will learn to become more focused and concentrate harder.
Essentially, there are two things that you need to start meditation. The first is a timer and the second is something comfortable to sit on. If you are new to meditation, it can be best to start training your mind by sitting in a chair. Once you become more comfortable with the practice you can invest in a mediation cushion. A meditation cushion allows you to sit in an upright position which can improve alertness and the quality of your meditation practice. A timer will help you keep track of the amount of time you meditate per day and is useful in tracking minutes per week as well as helpful to increase the time that you mediate.
During your meditation practice, it is important to sit. Get comfortable, breathe deep and start your timer. Close your eyes, listen to your surroundings and begin to focus on your breath. You can breathe in and out through your nose or through your mouth. Just focus on your breathing, and if your mind starts to wander, come back to concentrating on your breathing. Try not to focus on anything else during meditation but your breath.

What is the Mezieres-Bertele Method?
The Mezieres-Bertele Method is a physiological 4 hands massage that produces amazing results. The method teaches that the human body has 5 key muscle strains. The key strain is the back to the backside of the two legs, followed by the two arms, neck and chin. The last strain is the muscle under the chest.
These 5 muscle chains are not independent. In fact, they all affect each other. When you have pain in one of the strains and seek treatment, a traditional physiotherapist will work on the symptoms, however, if you work on only one the others will compensate. It is important to work on all muscle strains so that they can eventually balance out.
The Mezieres-Bertele Method utilizes a 4 hand massage technique to work on all of the body, and especially focus on the back which, according to this method, is the most important. Essentially, the method is a physiotherapy technique that endeavors to rebalance different muscle and joint chains through stretching exercises and body awareness. The result is improved posture and alleviation of pain.

Hydrate – if you are not used to drinking water, please start now. Aim to drink at least 2 liters of water a day as it flushes out toxins from the body and helps curb hunger pains.
Eliminate sugar and alcohol – Stop drinking alcohol and stop eating sugary foods. Instead, focus on eating lots of vegetables and adding whole foods to your daily menus.
Eat your veggies – make sure to eat fresh, delicious vegetables on a daily basis. While focusing on eating the rainbow, you should also make sure to eat lots of high-fiber, high-water vegetables such as spinach, asparagus and squash.
Low sodium – stay away from pre-packaged items and soups that add sodium to your diet. Reducing sodium helps your body to get rid of it.
