Created and developed in 1947 by Françoise Mézières, the Mézières Method is a physiotherapy technique that endeavors to rebalance the different muscle and joint chains through stretching exercises and body awareness. The result is improved posture and alleviation of pain.

Laura Bertelè was a student of Mézières who later became a collaborator and started teaching the Mézières-Bertelè Method in Italy and abroad.

The Mézières-Bertelè Method

According to Françoise Mézières, an individual’s back muscles behave like a single muscular chain. Therefore, it is necessary to extend the back musculature. If the back muscles are not extended or become out of balance, they can become the source of many problems and injuries in the body.

Utilizing the Mézières-Bertelè Method, the treatment focuses on the mobility of back muscles and joints in a progressive way which balances breathing while stretching the muscles which helps enhance body awareness. During the treatment, a 4 hands massage is administered to help stretch the muscles.

Another important discovery of the Mézières-Bertelè Method is that muscles, even more than determining the movement of articulations, act as a break for them and so they have to be elasticized in order to move the articulation. Neurophysiologists teach us that muscles are quite similar to elastic bands and can be dynamic structures when used in stretching or contraction.

It is believed that the suffering of muscular fiber is caused by the physiological loss of contract-release sequence which interferes with normal blood circulation. The technique developed by Mézières-Bertelè consists of distending the dorsal to tonify the deep front muscles and reestablish the energetical equilibrium of the right. In order to connect the inadequate posture, we have to correct our rigid movements.

About the Therapists

Michele Kaisermann has been a Mézières-Bertelè therapist since 2012. He first experienced the method as a child and was moved by its owner and uniqueness. In 2010, Michele took part in an “Integrated Rehabilitation” course with well-known French therapist Jean-Paul Resseguier who was also a student of Francoise Mézières. In Milan in 2015, Michele started to study Western Traditional Fitoterapy. Currently based in Florence, Michele also works in Barcelona and Paris as well as intensive weeks abroad.

Orsola Viola is a clinical Pedagogist, and her interest lies in how posture promotes the general well-being of the human body. She attended the Antigymnastique formation in Milan, which is a technique inspired by the Mézières mechanical body’s laws, where little conscious movements are used to get a right and deeper body perception. This experience inspired Orsola to begin studying the Mézières-Bertelé Method. Orsola finds this method the best way to enhance the wholeness of the human body while letting people experience a different posture. She often works with children and is based in Foggia, but travels to Milano, Parigi, Panarea and abroad for her work.

What is Candida?

Candida is the overgrowth of yeast and bad bacteria in the body. It is the most common type of yeast infection and it is found in both the mouth and the intestinal tract. The human body has a variety of nutritional needs to be met in order to function and survive. What we choose as a daily diet is essential to meeting these needs and it is important to understand the division of nutrients into macronutrients and micronutrients. Macronutrients are classified as carbohydrates, proteins and fat while micronutrients are vitamins and minerals.

The Role of Macronutrients

The three macronutrients are carbohydrates, proteins and fats, and they all have their own specific roles and functions in the body. They supply us with calories or energy, so the body needs these nutrients in large amounts to grow, develop, repair and generally feel good.

While it is true that macronutrients are found in every food, it is the way that they are balanced that is important. For example, one must weigh the good fats versus the bad fats and the same goes with carbohydrates and proteins. Once the consumer becomes aware of the balance, it is just a matter of tailoring the diet accordingly.

Does it sound confusing? Trust us, it is not. The most important thing is to source good fats, carbohydrates and proteins and implement them in your diet. By doing so, you expand your dietary routine and also start eating more foods that are better for your overall health.

Micronutrients work together with macronutrients to keep the body functioning. Micronutrients are crucial in maintaining energy levels, metabolism, cellular function, as well as physical and mental wellbeing.

Micronutrients are the vitamins and nutrients that your body needs, but they are minuscule to macronutrients when it comes to maintaining good health. Micronutrients help eradicate mineral deficiencies and are essential to the production of enzymes, hormones, proteins and other products created by our bodies.
