Beans and lentils have long been a staple of vegetarian fare… often considered a meat replacement, because of their high protein content. Not to mention, they are very filling and tasty too! Did you know that beans and legumes are one of nature’s secrets to stabilising blood sugar and lowering cholesterol?

It is reported that those who suffer from type 2 diabetes are able to improve both blood sugar levels and blood pressure when they make this simple addition to their diets! This is because beans and lentils slow down digestion and change the way that the body absorbs carbohydrates. The insoluble dietary fiber does more than just help our glycemic index, it promotes good digestion and aides in weight loss. Containing a staggering list of vitamins and minerals, including molybdenum, folate, fiber, copper, phosphorus, manganese, iron, protein, vitamin B1, pantothenic acid, zinc, potassium andvitamin B6, beans and lentils really do nourish the body, whilst providing essential nutrients and supporting good health overall.
